JUST A FEW WORDS ...

After a short delay opening the shop at 3 St Leonards Road, we did open officially on the 2nd of February.  The response has been fantastic, keeping Steve, Heather and myself very busy.

Many people are taking up the opportunity to have a profile page included into the directory, at just $100 it is a very cost effective way of breaking into the internet without the fuss and hassle of a web site, although, on saying that, we have also had some businesses who wants more than a profile page so have signed up to get their own web site with us.  We host all our websites here in the shop in our secure server room, with a complete back up system off site. We also have our servers connected to a UPS (uninterruptable power supply) so that even when the power is out in Healesville the websites we host are not!

I sent a letter to all our current clients who have a paid link, profile page or web site with us asking for business cards so we can display them in the shop.  This service is free and not only a good way for you to promote your business, but also helps us, as we are often used like an information centre, so we can hand out cards to people coming in looking for a business or service.  Please, if you received a letter and have not yet come down with your business cards, come and see us and get "your name on the wall" !

PROPOSED COMMUNITY BANK
(BENDIGO BANK) HEALESVILLE

Why have a community bank branch?

  • To unite the town, and capture the spirit of all groups within

  • To empower the community by owning their own bank branch

  • To create a sustainable community by reinvesting profits directly back into your community

  • Employment of locally selected staff who know and respect the needs of your own community

  • To return dividends to local shareholders

  • Successful communities are those who are empowered engaged and enlivened.

There are over 230 locally owned Community Bank Branches across the country !

A pledge of support is currently being sought, no money is being asked for as yet, as only indication of intention to purchase shares are needed at this stage.

AUTOTRACKING

The Healesville Town Entrance Project is an initiative of Community 3777, our Healesville Township group, who is working for the Healesville community to contribute to making this a vibrant and healthy township.

This group has a number of committees working on projects for older people, our youth and now they are turning their attention to an aspect of tourism and pride in the community, our Town Entrance Statement.

A few events have been held to get people talking, including a public meeting at the Memorial Hall and a workshop at the High School.

The Healesville sign, made to look like the famous Hollywood sign, was on the hill just over the 3 bridges for some time, that has now moved to the strawberry farm corner of Healesville - Woori Yallock Rd.  This sign generated plenty of interest and got people talking.

Over the next few weeks the ideas will be collated and three designs will then be put to the local residents for them to vote for their preferred idea.

Healesville Biz and Ozzinet Web Design will be hosting a web site to facilitate this process, an exciting new venture for our project and for Sally and her small team. This site is under construction but will be updated regularly and voting will take place through it, so bookmark the page to keep up to date.

Keep your eye on this site for further developments and to have your say by voting.
